SPECIAL EDUCATION ASSISTANT (CROSS CAT) - Timken Elementary

6.5 hours per day, 191 days per year

Hourly Rate: $18.95

• Assist the teacher to implement the IEPs.
• Assist students as needed to fulfill their educational needs.
• Help students develop a sense of independence and personal responsibility.
• Provide lavatory assistance when necessary.
• Assist students during lunch and recreational activities.
• Assist students to and from classes.
• Assist students on trips.
• Understand and maintain the academic and behavioral standards set for the students by the certified teacher.
• Assist students in loading and unloading on buses.
• Assist in active therapy programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Educational Aide Permit.

• Work as a member of a team.
• Highly Qualified:
  Two years of college (minimum 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours), or an associate's degree, or passed Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam.

Applicants are required to submit a copy of Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam results or college transcript to verify Highly Qualified status. Applicants must also have a valid Educational Aide Permit or obtain one upon employment. If you do not meet the criteria for Highly Qualified, you are not eligible to apply.
