EDUCATION ASSISTANT (Teacher/Student Aide)

STEAMM Academy

6.75 hours per day, 191 days per year

Step 1 - Hourly Rate $18.05

Required:

* Educational Aide Permit

* Previous experience with children in a learning situation

* Ability to take directions

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of an Educational Assistant Teacher/Student Aide include, but are not limited to, the following

* Conducts individualized and/or group activities with students as directed by the certified teacher

* Maintains records as directed

* Assists in care, maintenance and ordering of classroom equipment and materials

* Assists students in lunchroom and on the playground

* Prepares instructional materials

* Assists students loading and unloading on the bus

* Understands and maintains the academic and behavioral standards set for the students by the certified teacher

* Assists with the clerical duties as assigned by the certified teacher

* Assist Classroom Teacher with specific daily livings tasks as needed including personal and mobility assistance within the classroom and building

* Perform other duties as assigned

Applicants for the above position are REQUIRED to be Highly Qualified, which is defined as:
Two (2) years of college (Minimum of 48 Semester Hours, or 72 Quarter Hours), or possess an Associate's Degree, or passed the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam.

Applicants must submit a copy of their Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam results, or a copy of their college transcript(s) to verify their Highly Qualified Status.

Applicants must also have a valid Educational Aide Permit, or obtain one immediately upon being employed with the Canton City School District. If you do not meet the criteria for Highly Qualified, you are not eligible to apply.
