Job Description

STUDENT SUCCESS COACH

7.5 hours per day, 191 days per year

Step 1 – Hourly Rate $21.53

Description (Position Goal): In collaboration with building staff, to cultivate a safe and supportive school climate and culture that nurtures the development of the whole child through proactive and positive student interventions and supports to improve the safety, social competence, and academic achievement for all students.

Essential Functions: The Student Success Coach is responsible for the behavioral assessment of students, generating and implementing behavioral plans to remediate behavioral and social problems for students in general or special education programs. She/he is also available for consultation to school personnel and parents of these students.

The role of the Student Success Coach is to facilitate, assess and support instructional programs for students in general and special education; provide training and work collaboratively with teachers, aides and support staff to demonstrate best practices, strategies and techniques to enhance instruction for students with social, communication, behavioral and learning challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities (80%)
  • Student Interventions and Supports
    • Develop Student Success Plans (SSP) and specific intervention plans for students. Assist in their implementation, including using appropriate resources and technology to promote development of critical thinking, problem solving, and pro-social behavior in students.
    • Work with assigned SSP monitors and students to reach plan goals as determined by the student’s educational plan, and conducting ongoing follow-up assessment/evaluation/observation of progress on the student success plan(s).
    • Assist teachers in the identification and development of individualized student success plan interventions intended to change behaviors and using evidence based strategies.
    • Participate in building Ohio Improvement Plan (OIP) meetings to provide behavioral intervention and support strategies.
    • Attend student disciplinary hearings at building and district-level to provide inter
    • Co-facilitate iCARE Team meetings and co-serves as the building Student Success Plan data manager.
    • Serves on the district Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team as a building representative.
    • Assist with planning and co-leading building Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to maintain and ensure fidelity of PBIS school-wide.
  • Data Management
    • Collect data regarding student behaviors and recommend appropriate instructional modifications to develop responsible thinking and decision-making skills in students.
    • Identify and implement appropriate interventions for students in need of additional assistance.
    • Assist with data entry, management and reporting of Student Success Plan data
    • Track building behavioral and PBIS data.
    • Administer student survey and inform on results at the building level and district-wide.
  • Positive Youth Development
    • Provide support to students who display impulsive behaviors, low self-esteem, and impaired social skills.
    • Serve as a peer mentor and coach for students.
    • Direct students to positive youth development interventions, activities and supports that can include, but are not limited to:
      Art, music and cultural education activities; entrepreneurial education programs; tutoring services;
      English Learner (EL) programs that emphasize language skills and academic achievement; global learning; service learning projects; recreational activities; physical activities; technology education programs; communication education programs; health and nutrition programs; programming that assists students who have been truant, suspended or expelled improve their academic achievement and character education programs.
    • Plans and/or assists with building meetings and/or events that involve staff, students, families and community members.
