Position SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic, client‑focused SCADA Automation & Controls Engineer to support projects across the New England region including Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The Engineer will work with municipal and industrial clients to develop, implement and manage a variety of water, wastewater, and remediation projects with a focus on automation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in site investigations to gather information about clients’ systems, equipment and instruments, and develop project plans and cost estimates.
- Develop process logic for PLCs used in monitoring and controlling water and wastewater treatment systems.
- Design graphical screens for HMI and Operator Interface Terminals (OITs) in SCADA systems.
- Create automated reports via specialized reporting software for clients or regulatory agencies.
- Oversee installation, testing, and modification of field wiring for equipment and instruments connected to the SCADA system.
- Configure and calibrate instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, temperature, process analyzers) and connect to the SCADA system.
- Configure and commission industrial networking hardware, including Ethernet switches, wireless access points and licensed frequency radios.
- Participate in testing and startup of process equipment, instruments and SCADA system to ensure proper operation.
- Train operations personnel on use, maintenance and troubleshooting of SCADA hardware, software and installation.
- Participate in QA/QC activities for design deliverables and controls code.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safety‑first mindset.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- PE License or Certified Automation Professional (CAP) is a bonus.
- 2–3 years of experience in control system integration.
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLC hardware and software; other PLC experience is a bonus.
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley Factory Talk, Aveva Wonderware, Ignition and GE Proficy iFix HMI software; others are a bonus.
- Experience configuring and developing graphics for OITs such as Allen‑Bradley Panel View and Automation Direct C‑More.
- Experience with automated reporting software such as SyTech’s XL Reporter or Hach Wims.
- Hands‑on experience configuring, interfacing with, and troubleshooting instrumentation in the water and wastewater industry.
- Experience interpreting electrical schematics for commissioning or troubleshooting a control panel.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Computer networking experience (hardware and configuration) is a bonus.
- Experience with higher programming languages (VB, C++, Java, Python) is a bonus.
- Water/wastewater industry experience is a bonus.
Annual salary range: $75,000 – $100,000. The range varies by location and experience. Example geographic differentials:
Group B (Providence, RI, Northampton, MA) $75,000‑$90,000;
Group C (Andover, MA & Canton, MA) $85,000‑$100,000.
