We are a premier regional manufacturer serving critical infrastructure and transportation markets across North America. We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our engineering team to lead continuous product compliance, root cause analysis, and quality assurance.

Quality Engineer Role

The Quality Engineer serves as the primary technical owner for product quality, regulatory compliance, and state agency certification processes. This position exists to ensure manufactured products successfully navigate regulatory approvals, meet stringent specifications, and maintain high standards of quality through sustained production.

Quality Engineer Responsibilities

• Lead product approval and certification processes with regulatory agencies from initial submission through sustained production, such as, the Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). state, federal, and industry specification standards to establish technical manufacturing and quality requirements

• Develop and execute regulatory roadmaps, schedules, milestones, test plans, and documentation deliverables

• Serve as the primary point of contact for external testing laboratories, state transportation agencies, and regulatory bodies

• Coordinate product qualification, validation, durability, and environmental performance testing with cross-functional teams

• Develop and implement production quality plans, control plans, process validations, and product inspection criteria

• Lead root-cause analysis, corrective action implementations, nonconformance investigations, and continuous process improvements

• Maintain change control and configuration management systems to safeguard regulatory approvals during design or process changes

• Establish supplier quality requirements and collaborate with vendors to ensure incoming component compliance

• Monitor quality KPIs including compliance rates, approval cycle times, defect metrics, and manufacturing process capabilities

Quality Engineer Reporting Relationships

The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Manager and has no direct reports.

About You

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline, preferred

• Possess 3-5+ years of experience in quality engineering, regulatory compliance, product certification, or manufacturing quality, and experience with DOT compliances.

• Demonstrate proven experience managing regulatory approval or certification processes with government or industry agencies

• Display strong proficiency reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, bill of materials, test standards, and technical documentation

• Apply hands-on experience using root-cause analysis, CAPA, FMEA, control plans, and statistical process controls

• Exhibit proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, CAD software (AutoCAD or Solid Works), and ERP systems

• Demonstrate strong project management abilities to guide cross-functional teams toward regulatory deadlines

• Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to technical details

• Execute daily responsibilities independently while maintaining total confidentiality

Working Conditions:

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, along with periods of walking through manufacturing areas. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Working conditions include exposure to manufacturing environments with variable and extreme temperatures.
