Registration Clerk - Ed

Purpose Of Position

• To obtain all necessary information from both inpatients and outpatients to initiate treatment and billing by completing data entry and clinical information into the registration system.
• The registration department is the front door to this hospital and the patient registrar must provide professional, efficient, quality customer service.

• Enter and/or verify all information into Medipac registration system
• Verify eligibility for all insurances utilizing electronic verification systems
• Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire for every Medicare patient
• Screen all Medicare outpatient lab patients for medical necessity
• Offer financial assistance and do quick financial screening application for all uninsured patients
• Enter admissions for any ED admission
• Update departed emergency patients
• Tear down and assemble ED record
• Contact Ault Works for any workman's compensation patient
• Memo all pertinent information regarding billing and insurance into Mpac system
• Assure that Medipac System and Cerner system are in sync at all times
• Comprehensive knowledge of the following systems: MPAC, Cerner (First Net and Sugi Net), Ault Works, Rev Runner, RQI, Bed Tracking, Health Works Compliance Checker
• Follow all hospital and department policies

• High school diploma, minimum
• Ability to type at least 35 wpm
• Familiarity with medical terminology, useful
• Ability to work calmly and accurately in stressful situations
• Excellent customer service skills
• Professional manner and appearance

• 24/7 coverage
• Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Co-coordinated lunch and break periods
• Close working relations with clinical staff
• Constant walking utilizing Wireless on Wheels computer
• Continual involvement with patients and their families
• Ability to assist patients in wheelchairs and transport if necessary
• Assigned uniforms to be worn at all times
