Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. They evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans while educating them about procedures and equipment prior to discharge.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, oxygen devices, and nebulizers for medication administration, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance and manage patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
  • Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography, ensuring adherence to facility policies.
  • Review patients' chest x-rays for necessary further evaluation.
  • Perform 12-lead EKG and assist in basic arrhythmia recognition, as well as conduct pulmonary function studies.
  • Assist with respiratory care procedures, including bronchoscopy, perc trachs, and chest tube placements.
  • Provide tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal during emergencies and routine situations.
  • Accurately record treatment information and patient responses on respiratory care records and patient charts, ensuring communication with attending and pulmonary physicians.
  • Facilitate preventative maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment as needed.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
Schedule

This position follows a Night 3x12 hour schedule.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
