Patient Service Representative
Position:
Patient Service Representative
Reports to:
Practice Manager
Summary:
To greet patients, verify demographic and insurance information, collect copays, and print fee tickets and SOF forms.
Job Requirements:
Must be a high school graduate. Must have general computer knowledge. Must have basic typing skills. Must have good health as demonstrated by infrequent absenteeism. Must have ability to communicate well with a variety of clients in mature, courteous, and professional manner. Must be able to function independently and accurately with frequent interruptions.
Responsibilities:
- Greets consumers in a pleasant professional manner.
- Verifies demographic, referring physician and insurance information over the telephone or in person.
- Correctly identifies insurances that need precertification or authorization and ensure that it is obtained.
- Collects copays from patients. (See policy on money handling.)
- Verifies correct amount of cash in drawer upon opening and close out cash drawer in evening.
- Correctly schedules tests at appropriate site.
- Notifies appropriate staff when supplies are low for recording purposes. (Put on physician schedule if appropriate).
- Runs fee tickets, day sheets, and SOF forms. Makes sure appropriate forms are completed.
- Keeps an eye on waiting room for supplies and neatness.
- Makes follow up appointments/schedules necessary tests.
- May need to post charges and co-pays.
- May be asked to make patient appointment reminders.
- Other duties as assigned by Practice Coordinator or Manager.

Working Conditions:
8:00am to 8:00pm M-F or hours may vary from day to day as required by the job. Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day. Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours.
