Assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, incontinence care, meal preparation, medication reminders, mobility assistance, personal hygiene, companionship, errands/shopping, assistance with eating, light housekeeping, weekend care, respite services, and surgery recovery helps veterans maintain independence.

About the Role:

The Caregiver plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized support to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities due to age, illness, or disability. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional well‑being in their homes or care facilities. The Caregiver collaborates closely with healthcare professionals and family members to implement care plans tailored to each individual's unique needs.

Through attentive observation and communication, the Caregiver identifies changes in clients' conditions and responds appropriately to maintain their health and dignity. Ultimately, this role is essential in fostering independence and promoting a supportive environment that respects the rights and preferences of those served.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified caregiver training program or equivalent experience in personal care.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with state and federal regulations related to caregiving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working as a caregiver or in a related healthcare role.
  • Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation software.
  • Additional training in specialized care areas such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or palliative care.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client visits.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to maintain personal hygiene and comfort.
  • Provide medication reminders and support adherence to prescribed treatment plans under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, and organizing to maintain a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation and promote mental well‑being.
