Operations Manager, Healthcare Management
Position Summary
This role oversees the safety function for a rapidly growing aircraft cleaning, MRO detailing, and janitorial company. The Safety Manager ensures all locations operate above baseline safety expectations, maintains regulatory compliance, and drives continuous improvement. This position also leads the development and scaling of the Safety Department by introducing new tools, expanding resources, and building sustainable processes and procedures to support long-term growth.
This role requires regular travel to company locations nationwide to conduct site audits, lead safety trainings, perform incident investigations, and support operational leaders in maintaining a strong safety culture. The Safety Manager must be comfortable working in active airport and hangar environments.
The position reports to and is based out of the company’s office space at the Akron-Canton Airport, with in-office presence required in addition to field travel.
Key Responsibilities- 1. Location Safety Performance
- Monitor, score, and enforce minimum safety standards across all sites.
- Maintain an acceptable company wide safety score.
- Establish a corrective action roadmap for any site below compliance back to standard.
- Address any repeat non-compliant locations with leadership.
- 2. HIT Form Management (Hazard Identification & Training)
- Ensure each location submits at least one proactive or educational HIT form weekly.
- Respond to reactive HIT forms within one business day and upscale serious issues as needed.
- 3. Internal Safety Audits
- Enforce monthly audits for every location.
- Manage corrective actions for serious audit findings.
- Oversee safety policy, LMS knowledge checks, ensuring passing scores and location completion.
- 4. Corrective Action Closure
- Ensure closure of corrective actions within established timelines.
- 5. OSHA Compliance
- Maintain OSHA-ready compliance across all locations.
- Prevent major findings during OSHA inspections.
- Support all required regulatory recordkeeping, reporting, and training.
- 6. Incident and Damage Reporting
- Oversee timely reporting and investigation of all incidents, injuries, and damages following established SOPs.
- Ensure documentation includes all required elements.
- 7. PPE Compliance
- Uphold PPE standards across all locations, including safety shoes, uniforms, and respirators.
- Maintain compliance through audits and field observations.
- 8. Safety-Related Service Interruptions
- Prevent operational shutdowns or service disruptions stemming from safety issues.
- Immediately mitigate risks that threaten continuity.
- 9. Vehicle & Equipment Damage Prevention
- Lead efforts to eliminate equipment damage, near misses, customer property incidents, and at-fault vehicle accidents.
- Conduct investigations and implement solutions aligned with company SOPs.
- 10. Monthly Proactive Safety Campaigns
- Create and roll out monthly safety campaigns focused on relevant risk awareness.
- Deliver content through LMS modules or Operations call presentations with supporting materials for field teams.
- Align campaigns with broader monthly news letter initiatives.
- 11. Department Leadership & Scalability
- Build and scale the Safety Department to support rapid organizational growth.
- Introduce new tools, technologies, and resources that enhance safety oversight and efficiency.
- Develop and refine SOPs, policies, workflows, training materials, and reporting processes to ensure long-term scalability.
- Standardize safety operations across regions to maintain consistency and accountability.
- Partner with leadership to forecast staffing needs, define roles, and shape the future structure of the Safety team.
- Ensure safety programs evolve to meet new operational demands, customer needs, regulatory changes, and growth milestones.
- Experience in aviation, MRO, industrial cleaning, or similar operational environments.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety management best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to scale programs, build processes, and introduce new systems.
- Background in investigations, corrective actions, and safety training.
- Skilled in SOP creation, LMS management, and safety communication.
- Effective leadership, communication, and organization skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to assigned locations. Travel is required.
- Comfortable travelling in the company King Air B100 aircraft.
