Location: Canton Drop Forge, 4575 Southway St SW, Canton, OH 44706, USA
Shift schedules vary by seniority and training. Initial training is conducted on the day shift; thereafter shift preference is seniority‑based. The following are the standard shift times:
Day Shift
:
Monday – Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM
Afternoon Shift
:
Monday – Friday, 3 PM to 11 PM
Night Shift
:
Sunday Night – Thursday Night, 11 PM to 7 AM

Position OverviewThe Truck Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on all mobile equipment used throughout the Forge Shop and facility. This includes forklifts, material handlers, yard trucks, scissor lifts, and other industrial vehicles. The role ensures safe, reliable equipment performance to support daily production and material‑handling operations.
General Responsibilities- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on electric, diesel, and gasoline‑powered forklifts and industrial trucks, using manuals, diagrams, and standard mechanical practices.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power‑transmission systems on mobile equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on forklifts, material handlers, tow motors, and all relevant mobile equipment to minimize downtime and support Forge Shop operations.
- Read work orders, observe equipment performance, and identify malfunctions to determine repair procedures.
- Repair or replace components, including brakes, steering systems, ignition systems, drive trains, engines, batteries, and hydraulic lines.
- Lubricate moving parts, adjust safety devices/guards, and verify proper equipment operation after repairs.
- Fabricate or modify equipment components, brackets, or attachments when necessary, using welding equipment and tools.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, parts usage, and completed work.
- Support overall Maintenance team activities, including assisting with shop work and responding to equipment emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to read and write in English.
- 2+ years of experience repairing forklifts, industrial mobile equipment, or heavy truck systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to read manuals, schematics, work orders, and perform shop math.
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and power‑transmission systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork mindset.
- Must be able to stand majority of the shift.
- Job involves frequent standing, walking, twisting, turning, reaching, bending, climbing steps, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Must be able to tolerate extreme heat in summer months and extreme cold during winter months.
