Job Overview
Production Technician II – Canton, OH (AMG) – ASU
This role focuses on safe stewardship and sustaining of Airgas Merchant Gas production facilities. The Production Technician is dedicated to sustaining plant production, operating efficiency, regulatory compliance, and safety.
Responsibilities- Cultivate and share basic skills for the process plant.
- Work in partnership with more senior technicians while completing training tasks.
- Participate in Time‑Out investigations, document incidents, retrieve Airgas and site‑specific operating procedures, incident/injury reporting in Intelex.
- Familiarize oneself with the work order process and participate in essential support tasks.
- Acquire knowledge and abilities in all plant operations including processes and equipment and become familiar with site‑specific action plans.
- Support and confirm on‑site contractors, vendors, guests, or visitors that site‑specific training requirements are met and documented, supporting Hold Harmless & Insurance Policies and Procedures and performing administrative coordination responsibilities as delegated by the Plant Manager.
- Perform job duties in compliance with local and federal regulations such as FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, cGMP, and company policies (MOC, PPSR, QIR).
- Collaborate with national and local product scheduling to meet customer requirements and ensure documentation and reporting requirements are completed on time.
- Champion safety within the team by modeling good safety practices and completing Safety Pledge, HSES training, and other company training.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of operations experience in a continuous process industry, including safety and quality.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including 12‑hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotation.
- Valid employment authorization in the U.S.; this position does not offer visa sponsorship.
- Experience with Air Separation Unit (ASU), cryogenics, or industrial refrigeration systems.
- Familiarity with industrial water treatment principles and equipment (e.g., cooling towers, water chemistry testing).
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders or stairs as required, and wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing.
