The Pantry Coordinator will manage the day-to-day logistics and operations of the Foodbank-led pantry. This position will perform a variety of tasks, including coordinating daily pantry operations, stocking and organizing pantry spaces, training and directing volunteers, assisting neighbors with accessing food, and connecting them with additional resources and assistance available through the pantry’s Resource Room. The Pantry Coordinator will also work closely with the Direct Service team to support other Foodbank-led programs and services that serve neighbors throughout the community.
This position may require evening and/or weekend hours.
Hourly rate: $19.50 per hour;
Shift M-F, 8am-4pm
This position will work primarily at the Stark county campus with travel throughout the Foodbank’s surrounding eight-county service area.
Job Responsibilities:- Work alongside the Pantry Supervisor to prepare for and support daily pantry operations, including set-up, distribution, restocking, and closing procedures.
- Ensure the pantry is prepared for service by stocking shelves, refrigerators, and freezers; organizing food; and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Train, direct, and support pantry volunteers by communicating assignments, explaining expectations, answering questions, and ensuring volunteers are prepared to safely and effectively complete their responsibilities.
- Greet neighbors and assist with intake and registration while helping ensure an organized and welcoming flow throughout the pantry.
- Receive food and other inventory, move products into appropriate storage areas, stock and restock pantry spaces, rotate products, monitor expiration dates, and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Connect neighbors with additional resources and supportive services available through the pantry Resource Room and community partnerships.
- Assist with food ordering and maintain accurate inventory and other required records.
- Ensure compliance with Foodbank policies and procedures and applicable USDA, ODJFS, AIB, Feeding America, food safety, and Serv Safe standards, including required temperature monitoring and documentation.
- Coordinate and participate in routine cleaning, sanitation, organization, and food safety activities throughout the pantry and storage areas.
- Provide support for other Foodbank programming, including Home Delivery, Pop-Up Pantries, CSFP, Feeding Kids programming and other initiatives as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Pantry Supervisor, Manager Direct Service Programs, staff, volunteers, and community partners to support effective service to neighbors and perform other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least two years of experience in a community-based, customer service, food pantry, retail, restaurant, warehouse, or similar environment preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact respectfully and professionally with neighbors, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to organize work, follow procedures, maintain accurate records, and complete tasks with attention to detail.
- Forklift certification required or willingness and ability to become certified; must be able to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered equipment as needed.
