Nursing Summary / Purpose of Position
The Aultman Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse that provides direct, primary nursing care to patients/residents. The RN delegates and coordinates patient care, based upon a documented assessment of the patient’s/resident’s needs. The RN supervises the care provided by individuals such as licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians, state‑tested nursing assistants, medical assistants, and others, if applicable.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Maintain current, active BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Certification preferred for RNs meeting applicable eligibility requirements.
- Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.
- Apply the nursing process: assessment, planning interventions, accurate implementation or delegation of patient care, evaluation, and timely communication of patient information.
- Act as a patient/resident advocate and collaborate with the healthcare team to promote safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
- Maintain knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice.
- Demonstrate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
- Adhere to professional standards, ethical actions, statutes, rules, and regulations during nursing practice.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
- Utilize High Reliability Organization (HRO) tools and tones.
- Provide leadership and contribute to professional development of peers, colleagues, and students.
- Integrate research findings into practice.
- Review emails, department communications and learning assignments in a timely manner.
- Proficient computer skills to complete required tasks.
- Organized, able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Entity/ Department / Position Specific Addendum Department Summary
Under the direction of the directors of surgical services, the surgical RN is responsible for safety and care planning of patients while in the surgical department. The RN assists with surgical procedures in circulating and scrub duties, orientation, training and education of personnel, and takes call as assigned.
Physical RequirementsWork demands vary from occasional to continuous with physical tasks ranging from lifting 0–10 lbs to over 100 lbs and repetitive movements such as reaching, bending, stooping, and fine motor coordination. Stamina for standing, walking, and sitting throughout the shift is required.

- Direct, oversee, or assist other surgical personnel in patient care.
