Position Summary
The Aultman Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse that provides direct, primary nursing care to patients/residents. The RN delegates and coordinates patient care, based upon a documented assessment of the patient’s/resident’s needs. The RN supervises the care provided by individuals such as licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians/state tested nursing assistants/nurse aides, medical assistants, and other applicable staff.

Department SummaryThe Aultman Birth Center is a level III maternity center licensed by the State of Ohio. The Birth Center provides care to well newborns and patients across the maternity continuum, including emergency, antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) – required.
- Certification preferred for RNs meeting applicable certification eligibility requirements.
- Membership in professional nursing organization preferred.
- Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) – required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) completion and maintenance as part of orientation; instructed internally by the Birth Center and supported by the Education and Development Department.
- Maintain STABLE certification.
- Complete required orientation for position.
- Proficient computer skills to complete tasks as required.
- Organized, able to effectively prioritize tasks and exhibit appropriate time management skills.
- Detail oriented while focusing on safe practices and quality care.
- Demonstrates effective communication.
- Effective, appropriate and professional interactions with colleagues/physicians, patients and visitors.
- Respectful communication and appropriate use of time.
- Apply the nursing process of assessment, planning interventions, accurately implement or delegate patient care, evaluate that care, and accurately communicate patient information in a timely manner.
- Serve as a patient/resident advocate in conjunction with the healthcare team and foster patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
- Attain knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice.
- Demonstrate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
- Adhere to professional standards and guidelines, including ethical actions, relevant statutes, rules and regulations during nursing practice.
- Collaborate with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
- Exhibit High Reliability Organization (HRO) tools and tones.
- Provide leadership in the professional practice setting and contribute to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and students.
- Integrate research findings into practice.
- Be responsible for timely review of emails, department communications, and applicable learning assignments and completion.
- Apply the nursing process of assessment, planning interventions, accurately implement or delegate patient care, evaluate that care, and accurately communicate patient information in a timely manner.
- Serve as a patient advocate in conjunction with the healthcare team and foster patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
