About This Role

The RN in the Medical/Surgical Oncology Unit at Cleveland Clinic’s Mercy Hospital provides comprehensive nursing care to oncology and hospice patients, focusing on their physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. • Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.
• Obtain a cancer-specific certification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying education.
• Complete ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of employment for RNs on chemotherapy units.

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program) required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

• 2+ years of recent related nursing experience required for external applicants.
• Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience may be considered with approval.

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required.
