- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Increase donor awareness of potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate illness and medication histories to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
- Ability to squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. lightly, with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Correctable near and far vision, with specified visual acuity requirements
- Essential hearing acuity and color perception/discrimination
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written instructions
- Ability to work independently within oral or written guidance
- Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
- Ability to handle sensitive information and work with diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and extreme cold
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment
Demonstrates expertise in performing physical examinations and establishing medical histories to assess donor suitability, while ensuring compliance with confidentiality and safety standards. Proficient in donor education, counseling, and managing adverse events in a plasma center environment.
