Position Purpose
Assure the quality elements of new product/processes are addressed at the earliest phases of new product development so that the product/process has a positive impact on plant metrics (such as Cpk, Customer PPM, Scrap, First Pass Yield, Productivity) ks with Purchasing Commodity Manager to assure high supplier quality. Supports plant quality personnel as a liaison to the division engineering and purchasing departments.
Drives continuous improvement through all levels of the quality management system.

Essential Functions
- Participate in New Product Development teams. Use sound APQP fundamentals including D(P)
FMEA and past product knowledge/issues/warranty information/etc. to assure critical to quality elements are successfully addressed throughout the project. Promote increased use of poka-yoke systems and high Cp/Cpk levels special characteristics. Work with NPD and SPS teams to design quality into product and processes through use of the AQP process. - Work closely with Purchasing Commodity Managers to drive high quality supplier selection, PPAP approvals, and defect reduction to improve current supply base.
- Perform leadership role in working with plants, division personnel, and suppliers to solve problems through use of statistical problem solving and corrective action methodologies.
- Performs quality-based systems audits, process audits and products audits as required, including reporting and corrective action follow up.
- Assist management representative with the maintenance and continual improvement of our Quality Management System key processes. This includes identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Monitor results-based quality metrics-identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
- Completes other tasks as assigned.
- Four-year degree in technical, business, or related field required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Quality Professional with 3-5 years implementing effective Quality Management Systems in a manufacturing and design environment desired.
- Proven usage of statistical methods to assure quality.
- Experience leading effective APQP activities such as D/PFMEA.
- Experience with processes (machining, welding, forming, assembly, forging), products and/or industry highly desirable.
- Sound understanding of principles of GD&T.
- Experience with measurement system analysis and improvement.
- Frequent sitting, work at computer for extended periods of time.
- Office setting.
