The Meal Ministry Assistant supports the daily operation of Refuge of Hope’s Community Meal Ministry, helping provide nutritious meals in a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment. This position assists with food preparation, meal service, volunteer coordination, and kitchen operations while helping ensure every guest is treated with dignity and care.
Duties & Responsibilities- Assist with planning, preparing, serving, and cleaning up ninecommunity meals eachweek.
- Help supervise, train, and encourage volunteersserving in theMeal Ministry.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient commercial kitchen.
- Ensure compliance withall federal, state, and local food safety, sanitation, andhealth regulations.
- Help create awelcoming, safe, and respectful environment for guests, volunteers, and staff.
- Support other Meal Ministry and organizationalneeds as assigned.
- Demonstrate Refuge ofHope’s mission, vision, and Christian valuesin every interaction.
Must have a demonstrated commitment and adherence to understanding and implementing the mission, vision, core values, and philosophies of Refuge of Hope, a strong commitment to serve homeless, hungry, and those living in poverty and be able to professionally represent Refuge of Hope in a variety of settings and diverse communities.
Required Physical Functions- Stand for extended periods
- Lift up to50 pounds
- Read, hear, and communicate effectively
- Work safely ina fast-pacedcommercial kitchen environment
- High school diplomaor GED
- Basic computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance if operatinga vehicle onbehalf of Refugeof Hope
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community members
Preferred
- Serv Safe Certification
- Experience preparing foodfor large groups
- Previous experience in commercial food service, hospitality, or nonprofit ministry
