A growing electrical and industrial solutions provider is seeking an Automation & Controls Specialist to join its technical sales team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in automation, controls, PLCs, or electrical systems who enjoys solving problems, working directly with customers, and becoming a trusted technical resource.
This is a 75% technical support / 25% customer-facing role where you'll partner with sales professionals and customers to recommend automation solutions, troubleshoot equipment, and support industrial automation projects. What You'll Do- Provide technical support for automation and control products, including product selection, troubleshooting, and application guidance.
- Partner with outside sales representatives during customer visits to provide automation expertise and recommend solutions.
- Assist customers with PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), firmware updates, and other automation-related products.
- Support product commissioning and startup activities for select electrical equipment.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to ensure accurate product information and timely availability.
- Stay current on emerging automation technologies, products, and industry trends.
- Assist with technical product training for both customers and internal sales teams.
- Become a trusted advisor by helping customers improve productivity through automation solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred. Associate degree with relevant automation experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in automation, industrial controls, electrical systems, or technical sales support.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, industrial controls, and automation systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to customers and coworkers.
- Comfortable working directly with customers while collaborating with internal sales teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general technical software.
