Salary: $24.99 - $31.95 Hourly
Job OverviewThis is a part‑time position with the City of Canton. Employees may work up to 29 hours per week, with schedules determined by the City. Qualified candidates will receive paid vacation, sick time, and a retirement plan.
Responsibilities- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and repair of all types of electrical equipment and controls.
- Inspect electrical equipment throughout the facilities.
- Check motors for proper electrical loading and determine circuit amperage.
- Clean, adjust, and repair motor starting equipment.
- Wire new equipment and provide temporary wiring for movable equipment.
- Maintain high‑voltage switchgears and transformers.
- Assist contractors with proper installation of electrical systems.
- Repair or replace circuit breakers (12‑V to 600‑V) and work with 12,000‑V power fuses.
- Install new lighting fixtures and repair existing equipment.
- Perform additional duties consistent with electrical maintenance as required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of electrical training at a technical school.
- Minimum of five years of related and relevant experience or an equivalent combination of knowledge, training, and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, motors, motor controls, high‑pressure sodium, mercury vapor, fluorescent, incandescent lighting, and the National Electric Code.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams from vendors and engineers, diagnose electrical problems, and make necessary corrections.
- Physical ability to walk, bend, climb, and stoop to inspect equipment, and lift tools, work materials, and motor starting equipment.
