Yard Assistant

This position is responsible for working alongside the yard crew and general management/maintenance of construction equipment in the yard at Beaver Excavating headquarters in Canton, OH.

• Follows all corporate safety guidelines
• Insures yard is kept in an orderly manner and all inventory is accessible
• Cleans up and organizes construction materials and equipment
• Loads and unloads heavy equipment on lowboy and drop deck trailers with heavy equipment and large forklifts
• Performs inventory of yard stock
• Supports both office and field as needed
• Helps with snow removal and salting
• Helps with misc. office maintenance needs, such as moving filing cabinets and other furniture
• Delivers small parts to job sites as needed
• Other tasks as assigned

• Strong communication skills working with several departments and managers simultaneously
• Strong organizational skills put to use with knowledge of construction materials and equipment

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5 years of previous construction experience with a heavy contractor
• Prior experience with forklift and heavy equipment such as dozers, track hoes, loaders, etc.
• Prior experience with industrial construction materials such as pipe, scaffolding, trench boxes, etc.
