Position Purpose
Responsible for loading, unloading, transporting and positioning materials to and from various sites on the rooftop of residential homes and commercial buildings. Works in close coordination with the Driver to load materials onto trucks and manually unload them onto rooftops using a conveyor system, while following roofing contractors specifications and protecting customer property. Must uphold safety standards and company protocols during all tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Load and unload roofing materials from delivery trucks using manual and mechanical methods.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures; assist in assembly of scaffolding and other structures.
- Operate conveyor belt systems (where trained and certified) to transport building materials from flatbed trucks to rooftops.
- Verify and reconcile material orders, maintaining accurate documentation of inventory movements.
- Provide exceptional service to roofing contractors, attending to material needs and responding to inquiries.
- Adhere to OSHA safety regulations and company protocols, including proper use of PPE.
- Coordinate with drivers and team members to ensure efficient loading and unloading processes.
- Inspect delivery sites for hazards and assist drivers in maneuvering vehicles safely.
Reports to Site Supervisor/Manager. No direct reports.
Travel RequirementsFrequent local travel within the designated branch delivery area; occasional travel (typically less than 10% overnight) to assist at nearby branches or support out‑of‑town storm or emergency relief efforts.
Physical RequirementsLifting up to 100 lbs; standing, walking, bending, climbing; working at heights; wearing PPE including harness.
Working ConditionsPrimarily outdoors on rooftops with exposure to weather conditions; safety equipment such as hard hats, harnesses, gloves required; ability to work at significant heights and in loud environments.
Minimum Qualifications- Reliable transportation and ability to commute.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to pass criminal and driving background checks and pre‑employment drug test.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift between 80-100 lbs.
- Basic math skills for inventory counts.
- Proficient verbal and written communication in English.
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and proper use of PPE.
- Ability to read work orders, shipping orders, and follow verbal instructions.
- Comfortable working on sloped roofs with proper PPE.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and loud environments.
- Availability Monday through Friday, with potential overtime.
- Demonstrated reliability, safety, and teamwork.
- Knowledge of construction materials and procedures.
- Proficiency in operating a forklift.
- Previous experience in roof work or rooftop delivery.
- At least one year of experience in building materials, roofing supply, or rooftop delivery.
- Experience operating forklifts, boom or crane trucks.
- Familiarity with conveyor systems.
- Proficiency in Spanish in addition to English.
Minimum:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
Completion of vocational training or certification in construction, material handling, or forklift operation.
Forklift certification preferred.
CompetenciesLabor‑intensive task performance, including repeated lifting of 50-100 lbs; adherence to OSHA guidelines; coordination with drivers and roofing contractors; accurate reading of work orders; reliable attendance; strong communication; flexibility for changing hours and conditions.
