Field Service Technician

Overview

Performs multiple tasks associated with field installation, service, maintenance, troubleshoot and repair of surface wellhead systems.

• Field service, assembly, and repair of new, reman and customer property.
• Plans and coordinates activities with installing equipment, investigates and resolves customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminates future operational service difficulties per job specification.
• Provide field service on a 24-hour on-call basis for existing and new customers during scheduled shifts.
• Based in a home-based workshop with travel to customer locations, including overtime and potential work for other divisions and extended stays at other Company locations.
• Install new products and conduct repairs of Vault Pressure Control equipment, ensuring no rig lost time for customers while controlling expenses and maintaining assets.
• Work in a shop when in training or not on active jobs.
• Handle customer complaints in a professional manner.
• Maintain effective communication with Company Representatives on job procedures and spare parts requirements.
• Record critical dimensions to ensure assemblies will work and review product assembly/running procedures.
• Ship correct equipment and tooling to locations for service jobs.
• Prepare and submit Field Service Orders and other region-required reports after each job is complete.
• Complete a Tally Book or other forms to communicate procedures, spare parts, critical dimensions and customer questions and complaints.
• Work in a safe manner in compliance with VPC EHS and quality processes and procedures.
• Complete shift reports and logs.
• Must be able to climb up and down a ladder from work locations.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work 12 to 14-hour shifts, day and night on a rotating schedule and weekends as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

• Minimum of 2 years field service tech experience.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated good working knowledge of mechanical processes.
• Technical, vocational, or military training or related experience is a plus.
• Surface Wellhead installation and repair experience is a plus but not required.
• At least one year of mechanical, electronic and hydraulic related experience.
• Demonstrated good customer service skills — communication, positive interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated good organizational skills.

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical components, airborne fumes, and particles.
• Exposure to heat, cold, wet and snow conditions.
• Moderate noise levels.
