Maintenance Technician
This role oversees all industrial maintenance activities within a small manufacturing facility, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as occasional facilities maintenance. The Maintenance Engineer works independently on first shift to keep production equipment running reliably, implement preventive maintenance schedules, and support continuous improvement of processes and equipment.
Responsibilities- Take full ownership of all shop maintenance and repair activities for production equipment and facility systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule for all machinery and critical systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform ongoing upkeep on mechanical and electrical machinery and components.
- Install, commission, and adjust mechanical and electrical equipment as needed to support production requirements.
- Maintain and repair pneumatically driven equipment, ensuring reliable operation of systems that primarily run on pneumatics.
- Service and repair small hydraulic presses and related hydraulic systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot small industrial ovens, motors, radio frequency welders, vacuum formers, and rotary tables.
- Perform basic facilities maintenance, including plumbing work and some commercial lighting repairs or replacements.
- Handle basic electrical work involving 480V and 3-phase power, including wiring, conduit, and panel-related tasks within scope of experience and safety guidelines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to diagnose issues and plan repairs.
- Perform equipment installation and setup, including mechanical alignment and basic electrical connections.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and replacement of worn parts.
- Coordinate parts ordering for repairs and preventive maintenance, ensuring critical spares are available when needed.
- Work directly with customer support or equipment vendors by phone to troubleshoot complex equipment issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency and implement practical solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure safe work practices at all times, including proper lockout/tagout and adherence to facility safety procedures.
- Collaborate with production personnel to minimize downtime and schedule maintenance around production needs.
- Act as a self-directed maintenance resource, prioritizing tasks and managing workload without direct on-site maintenance supervision.
- At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong experience with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repairing pneumatically driven equipment.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic repair, particularly on small hydraulic presses and related systems.
- Basic electrical skills working with 480V and 3-phase power in an industrial setting.
- Ability to perform basic PLC-related tasks is beneficial, such as simple troubleshooting or adjustments.
- Proficiency in mechanical maintenance, including repair and installation of motors, presses, ovens, and related machinery.
- Experience with preventive maintenance practices and the ability to establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program.
- Capability to work independently as the primary or sole maintenance resource on-site.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience working with industrial equipment such as ovens, vacuum formers, presses, rotary machines, and radio frequency welders.
- Comfort working with electrical conduit, wiring, and basic panel work within appropriate safety practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to support installation and setup of industrial equipment.
