Maintenance Technician (1st Shift)
This role focuses on industrial maintenance of mechanical and electrical manufacturing equipment and facility systems in a clean, climate-controlled environment. You will troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation of production machinery and building utilities on a Monday–Friday 1st shift schedule (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) in Canton, OH.
Responsibilities- Perform industrial maintenance on mechanical and electrical manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure reliable operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and components to minimize production downtime.
- Work safely with 3-phase electrical systems and voltages up to 480V while following established safety procedures.
- Replace and install motors, bearings, belts, gear boxes, pumps, sensors, and other machine components as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and mechanical drawings to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production calls to reduce downtime and maintain productivity.
- Perform new equipment installations, including mechanical assembly, alignment, and electrical connections.
- Maintain shop utilities equipment such as air compressors, lighting, overhead doors, and other building systems.
- Use appropriate hand and power tools to perform maintenance, repair, and installation tasks safely and efficiently.
- Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment issues and repair status to relevant team members.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures and contribute to a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring equipment issues and recommending long-term solutions.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, including motors, bearings, belts, gear boxes, pumps, and related components.
- Proficiency with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic equipment.
- Proficiency with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic equipment.
- Working knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems and voltages up to 480V.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on industrial equipment, including control circuits and power distribution.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Experience maintaining and repairing industrial utilities such as air compressors, lighting, and overhead doors.
- Skill in using hand and power tools safely and effectively for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment and systems, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
- Ability to perform new equipment installations, including mechanical and electrical work.
- Basic welding skills for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely in an industrial environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 30-hour training or certification is a plus.
- Experience in industrial maintenance within a precision metal fabrication or similar manufacturing environment is beneficial.
- Familiarity with service and electrical maintenance practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical documentation and procedures.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple maintenance priorities.
