Position: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR (effective August 1, 2026)
The Plain Local School District, Canton, Ohio, is seeking applicants for the position of Athletic Director - Glen Oak High School.

The Plain Local School's mission is providing the Plain community with exceptional education that is personalized, relevant and provides opportunities for students to create a better world through global understanding and respect. The District serves 5,700 students in 10 buildings and consistently performs above the state average in state testing. The Plain Local School District focuses on academics, arts, athletics, and partnerships and serves as the community hub in Plain Township.

Glen Oak High School served students in grades 9 - 12.

Summary

Glen Oak High School competes in the Federal League which is one of the most competitive leagues in the state of Ohio. Glen Oak has 26 high school sports and has multiple team and individual state championship titles. The district recently completed two major renovations to the baseball and softball fields and recently added a new turf practice field for all teams.

The district supports youth athletic programs and they are a critical partner in player and facility development. The district has a storied history with highly successful coaches in both men's and women's sports.

Qualifications

* Masters Degree or administrative license in sports management or educational leadership

* Demonstrated leadership experience in high school athletics or school administration

* Strong operational, organizational, and communication skills

* Proven ability to manage personnel, budgets, and complex scheduling

* Working knowledge of OHSAA and Federal League policies

* Provides visionary leadership for all Glen Oak athletic programs, ensuring alignment with district goals and school culture (across grade levels and buildings)

* Establish and maintain high student-athlete expectations promoting alighment between middle school and high school programs

* Recruit, hire, mentor, evaluate, and retain high-quality coaching staff

* Oversee all operational aspects of athletics, including scheduling, officials, facilities, and event management

* Develop, manage, and monitor athletic budgets with fiscal responsibility and transparency

* Ensure full compliance with Plain Local Schools, Federal League, and OHSAA rules and regulations

* Lead and support program improvement through data, feedback, and continuous evaluation

* Maintain visible leadership presence at practices, competitions, and school events

* Serve as the primary liaison between administration, coaches, families, league representatives, and community partners

* Promote a culture of sportsmanship, integrity, accountability, and student well-being

* Conduct regular meetings with coaching staff to communicate expectations, policies, and best practices.

* Support coaches in fostering sportsmanship, academic accountability, and student-athlete well-being.

* Develop and maintain athletic handbooks, procedures, and eligibility guidelines.

* Oversee athletic facilities usage, maintenance coordination, and event operations.

* Supervise home athletic events to ensure safety, sportsmanship, and compliance in coordination with administration.

* Provide oversight and coordination with athletic booster clubs, ensuring transparency, compliance, and alignment with school and district policies.
