Overview

Velocity Restorations is seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join our team. This role is responsible for developing detailed 2D and 3D models for automotive interiors, custom components, and other restoration projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of CAD software, engineering principles, and a passion for classic vehicle restorations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for custom automotive interiors, structural components, and restoration modifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and upholstery specialists to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Revise and optimize designs based on feedback from the engineering and production teams.
  • Maintain an organized database of CAD files and design documentation.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to source materials and components that align with design specifications.
  • Conduct fitment tests and adjustments to ensure precision in fabrication and installation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, CAD software advancements, and best practices in automotive restoration design.
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360.
  • Strong understanding of materials, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and specifications.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Education Background and Experience
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical design, industrial design, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in automotive design, restoration, or fabrication is highly desirable.
Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation.
  • Occasional standing or walking within the office or shop, such as attending meetings, retrieving documents, or interacting with customers or employees.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying items, typically weighing up to 10-20 pounds.
  • Frequent use of fingers and hands for typing, writing, and operating a computer.
  • Using telephones, printers, copiers, and other office tools.
  • Frequent need to focus on printed or digital material.
  • Reviewing financial documents, schedules, or customer data with accuracy.
  • Regular communication with customers, vendors, and team members, either in person, on the phone, or via video conferencing.
  • Engaging with customers in person or over the phone, sometimes requiring extended periods of active listening and problem-solving.
  • Prolonged exposure to hot or cold temperatures.
  • Mild noise from office machines or nearby shop areas if the office is adjacent to the workshop. PPE may be required while walking through the shop.
  • Moving around the office or between departments, sometimes requiring the ability to climb stairs.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle.
