Student Support Specialist

Qualifications:

* Must have valid Texas Teaching Certificate

* Minimum three years of successful teaching experience

* Master's degree in Educational Administration preferred

* Enrolled in an administrative preparation program

* Willingness to obtain Certification for T-TESS appraiser and ILD Certification

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* In-depth knowledge of curriculum and instruction

* Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

* Ability to coordinate campus functions

* Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data

* Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

* Ability to maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues and students

* Ability to collaborate and coordinate campus testing operations and attend training

Major responsibilities and duties may include:

* Assist in facilitating 504, ARD, Attendance, MTSS, and HB 4545

* Evaluate and/or observe instruction and provide feedback to staff

* Oversee district programs and extracurricular activities when needed

* Ability to instruct and manage student behavior

* Assist teachers and staff in implementing universal social/emotional learning and Behavior Intervention Plans

* Facilitate in de-escalation strategies of students with behavioral/emotional needs

* Demonstrate empathy, active listening skills and emotional control with students exhibiting non-compliant or acting-out behaviors

* Facilitate meetings to develop behavior interventions for individual students

* Serve as a member on the campus SOS committee

* Plan/collaborate/work closely with members of grade level team and participate in a Professional Learning Community

* Ability to maintain confidentiality

* Assist in covering classrooms when needed

* Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal
