Irrigation Specialist

Primary

Purpose:

Perform the skilled work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the district irrigation

system to ensure the grounds are safe, neat and attractive.

Qualifications:

Education/

Certifications:

* High School diploma or GED

* Valid Texas Driver's License

* Landscape Irrigator License

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Ability to read architectural and engineered drawings, specifications and diagrams

* Ability to measure and perform mathematical computations

* Ability to design, install and maintain complete lawn/landscape irrigation system

* Basic knowledge of general ground maintenance and repair procedure

* Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools specialized for grounds maintenance (mowers, weed eaters, concrete mixers, etc.)

* Ability to follow oral and written instruction

* Ability to work independently

Major Responsibilities and Duties - Grounds/Landscaping and Irrigation:

* Maintain and repair district irrigation system

* Troubleshoot, diagnose and perform work in the repair, alteration, construction, installation, replacement and preventive maintenance of irrigation supply lines, controllers, timing devices, sprinklers heads, fixtures and other related equipment.

* Water grounds and develop cost-effective irrigation scheduling

* Assist when needed with all work associated with maintenance of grounds (mowing, weed control, caring for trees, shrubs, flower beds and xeriscape areas)

* Assist with repair of fences as needed and directed

* Complete equipment repairs on work orders in a timely and efficient manner

* Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required

* Participate in district and department meetings/trainings as required

* Prompt arrival at workstation at the beginning of each working day

* Represent the school systems to the community in a positive and professional way

* Perform other duties as assigned
