Manufacturing Engineer II – Test & Launch Structures
Cape Canaveral, Florida
At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.
About the TeamThe Launch team operates at the intersection of every major aspect of Terran R, from stages and payloads to ground systems, launch, landing, and refurbishment. The Cape is the only place where you see it all come together, offering a level of exposure and responsibility unmatched elsewhere in the program. This is where first flights happen, where history is built on top of history, and where the scale of what’s underway is unlike anything in modern aerospace.
Aboutthe Role
In this role, you will work closely with Test and Launch design engineers to evaluate and implement optimal manufacturing and integration solutions. You will lead fabrication and integration efforts, including coordination with third‑party vendors and full ownership of integration processes. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams—fluids, civil, electrical, and mechanical—to develop effective integration strategies. You’ll also be responsible for selecting techniques and processes that meet design tolerances, while providing input on and approving designs for manufacturability.
AboutYou
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline; or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience supporting manufacturing activities related to structural builds, precision tooling, ground support equipment, or similar hardware.
- Experience using CAD software such as NX, Creo, Solid Works, CATIA, or similar tools.
- Experience supporting partial or full life‑cycle structural build projects, including lifting and rigging, integration, and proof testing.
- Working knowledge of in‑field fabrication techniques, such as line boring, match drilling, milling operations, and metrology used to achieve tight tolerances in structural systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical issues, evaluate options, and support effective manufacturing or integration solutions.
- 3+ years of experience in a partial or full life‑cycle design engineering role.
- Experience applying AFSPCMAN 91‑710 or similar range safety, launch, or aerospace compliance requirements.
- Experience working on projects with Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, NASA, or similar government or aerospace customers.
- Experience designing, analyzing, or supporting fabrication of large steel, aluminum, or similar structural systems.
- Experience with mechanical systems, mechanisms, or moving assemblies.
- Experience checking engineering drawings and reviewing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards.
Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the U.S. government to obtain clearance for on‑site work at our government partner location in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
