The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program within SSC provides all the launch processing support functions for the Office of Space Launch (OSL). One of the program's two primary operating locations is Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, clean room operations, satellite processing and support facilities O&M, and safety and environmental services.
The Mechanic/HVAC Specialist is responsible for the installation, servicing, modifications, rebuilds, and repairs of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations. Summary of key duties for this position:
- Diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
- Perform periodic maintenance
- Perform annual equipment inspections
- Interface with engineering and procurement departments
- Complete work order logs and update scheduler
- Perform troubleshooting to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions
- Perform maintenance on such systems as: centrifugal compressors, evaporative condensers, electrical controls, pumps, fans, boilers, and heating equipment
- Charge air conditioning systems with refrigerant, checks and tests for leaks, sets, and adjusts controls and regulators.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork
- Service, modify, and maintain centralized HVAC computer systems and make program corrections
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Occasional odd shifts, travel, and overtime may be required.

• High School diploma or GED
• EPA Section 608 Universal certification
• Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights
• Basic computer skills
• Must be a U.S. citizen. Will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
• Must be able to work occasional odd shifts, weekends and overtime as needed.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)
Desired Skills• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• HVAC technical diploma/certificate/Journeymen's license with 2+ years HVAC experience
• Experience with HVAC control systems
• Commercial chiller experience
• Familiar with Predictive maintenance tools. (infrared, laser alignment)
• High attention to detail and results-focused team player who is adaptable to change with demonstrated initiative and accountability.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits. Schedule for this position: 9x80 every other Friday off.
