Position: Mail Clerk (Part-time)

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for the operation of the City’s mail and delivery service. An employee in this classification is responsible for sorting, distributing and delivery of City mail, packages, and other materials throughout City facilities, various departments and the Post Office and is also responsible for various clerical duties. The work is performed under minimal supervision and with some latitude for independent judgment within established policies and procedures.

Work is reviewed through observation of work activities, task completion and efficiency of operations.

  • Pick up, deliver mail at U.S. Post Office, and deliver to City's mail distribution center.
  • Sort and deliver intra-City and USPS mail to various City work sites, offices and departments.
  • Process City mail through postal mail equipment and operate postage meter.
  • The ability to maintain accurate records and to make simple arithmetic computations.
  • The ability to lift and handle cartons and mailbags up to 30 pounds.

High School Diploma or GED. Supplemented by zero (0) to two (2) years' experience and/or training in related functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have a valid Florida driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Work schedule will be between the hours of 11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with 25 hours per week.

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
