Full-Time Music Minister Position Summary
Our Southern Baptist church is prayerfully seeking a full-time Music Minister who is called to serve both as a worship leader and as a shepherd to our congregation. We are a loving, traditional church with an average attendance of approximately 100 people and a heart for biblical preaching, Christ-centered worship, and meaningful relationships.
The Music Minister will work closely with the Lead Pastor to plan and lead traditional worship services, oversee the church's media and technology ministries, and assist in the pastoral care of our congregation. We are seeking someone who loves people, values traditional church music, and desires to invest in the spiritual life of a local church family.
Primary Responsibilities Worship MinistryPlan and lead traditional worship services in cooperation with the Lead Pastor.
Select biblically sound music that complements the weekly sermon and supports the worship experience.
Direct and rehearse the church choir.
Plan and direct seasonal musical presentations, including Christmas and Easter cantatas.
Recruit, train, and encourage choir members and musicians.
Introduce new music when appropriate while honoring our church's traditional worship style.
Coordinate special music for worship services and special events.
Oversee the church's audio, video, presentation, and livestream ministries.
Coordinate and train volunteers serving in sound, projection, and media.
Ensure all worship technology functions effectively for services and special events.
Help evaluate and maintain worship-related technology and equipment.
Serve alongside the Lead Pastor in ministering to the congregation.
Visit church members in hospitals, nursing homes, and homes as needed.
Assist with welcoming and assimilating new members and guests.
Participate in outreach, discipleship, and church-wide ministry opportunities.
Be available to assist with weddings, funerals, revivals, and other special services.
Build meaningful relationships with church members and encourage their spiritual growth.
Plan worship services in advance with the Lead Pastor.
Schedule rehearsals and communicate effectively with choir members and volunteers.
Maintain the music library and worship resources.
Assist in developing and managing the music and media ministry budgets.
Attend staff meetings and participate in ministry planning.
A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing personal walk with Him.
A definite call to vocational church ministry.
Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and the doctrines and mission of a Southern Baptist church.
A servant's heart with a genuine love for people and pastoral ministry.
Experience leading traditional congregational worship and directing a choir.
Strong vocal ability and proficiency on piano or another accompanying instrument. Additional instrumental abilities are a plus.
Working knowledge of church sound systems, presentation software, and livestream technology.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to recruit, train, and encourage volunteers.
Previous experience serving in a Southern Baptist church.
Degree or ministry training in Music, Worship Ministry, Church Ministry, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Experience leading Christmas and Easter cantatas and other seasonal worship events.
