Job Summary:Does routine professional engineering work requiring some judgment and experience in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of civil engineering projects; assists in preparing designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other duties as required.
Examples of Duties:- Assists in making preliminary and final surveys, reduces and plots survey notes and prepares mass diagrams;
- Computes vertical and horizontal curves and earthwork quantities;
- Assists in the design of reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, cultures, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, highways and other concrete, steel, and timber structures by developing details, checking computations, and preparing final working drawing, reinforcing steel details and material schedules;
- Assists in the preparation of specifications and cost estimates and interprets plans and specifications;
- Makes field engineering inspections and tests construction materials;
- Computes lot closures and areas, makes land use studies, and assists in the preparation of hydrologic studies;
- Computes extensions and adjustments to a triangulation system, computes data, prepares maps and checks plans;
- Serves as chief of party or design squad leader and supervise personnel in subprofessional level work; and
- Performs other related duties as required.
Training and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in engineering; and
- one (1) year of professional civil engineering experience.
