- High School diploma or GED and ten (10) years of directly related full-time experience in public administration, police operations (if working within the police department), or a closely related field.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field, along with six (6) years of directly related full-time experience in the job functions.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
- Oversee multiple business functions as assigned to ensure that all activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Lead the department’s budget planning process, working closely with management, identifying resource needs, forecasting expenditures, and preparing detailed budget proposals.
- May oversee the timely and accurate entering of invoices, reimbursements, and payments.
- Monitor and control departmental spending throughout the fiscal year, providing regular updates, recommending adjustments, and reviewing procurement requests for operational necessity, budgetary alignment, and compliance with City standards.
- Reconcile financial data, including payroll, procurement transactions, and grant expenditures, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
- May work with the Budget Division to maintain department position control to ensure FTE count and vacancies are allocated correctly.
- Generate financial reports, summaries, and analyses to communicate budget performance and financial status. Coordinate with Financial Services and ITS to optimize the use of data management tools for financial tracking and reporting.
- Provide financial oversight and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal funding, and regulations regarding procurement, forfeiture funds (if applicable), and grant expenditures.
