Overview
The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The Foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Because the Florida Cancer Specialists partner physicians cover all overhead expenses for the Foundation, 100% of donations go directly toward paying the essential non-medical living expenses of an adult battling cancer.
Want to start making a difference in someone else’s life? Become a Patient Support Volunteer for the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation. Our volunteers brighten a cancer patient’s day by providing non-medical support to them while they are undergoing treatment. In the infusion area, volunteers offer a snack or beverage to a patient, hand out warm blankets, share reading materials, talk and listen, wipe down the infusion chairs, and help the nurses with re-stocking.
Ideal candidates may be a retiree, cancer survivor, or a caregiver of someone with cancer. We would also consider a college student with an interest in oncology, nursing, or medicine. We ask for a minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week for at least six months.
ResponsibilitiesProvide non-medical support to cancer patients during treatment in the infusion area. Offer comfort items and assist with non-clinical tasks to brighten a patient’s day.
