Facilities

The ideal candidate will be able and willing to perform routine and preventative maintenance, light carpentry, patch and paint jobs, relocating furniture and equipment, and other items necessary to providing our patients and staff a safe and clean environment. They will assist in the Surgery Department with both patient transport and Life Safety Compliance requirements. They must be able to work independently and have excellent time management and organizational skills.

Physical requirements include the ability to walk and move quickly in response to maintenance and safety needs, climb ladders, load boxes, move desks, and drive the company pickup truck. The candidate will be required to carry, lift, pull and push up to 75lbs. occasionally and up to 50lbs frequently and/or up to twenty lbs. constantly. This position works under the direction of the Facilities Manager and Practice Administrator.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Experience in safety, maintenance and service required
• Basic carpentry and painting skills required
• Understanding of housekeeping requirements for healthcare facilities including the sterile environment preferred
• Knowledge of horticulture and landscaping or willingness to learn plant care and sprinkler systems maintenance preferred
• Valid Florida Driver’s License is required

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assists with patient transportation on Surgery and Retina days.
• Assists Facilities Manager with Life Safety Compliance requirements.

• Grounds maintenance—some asphalt patch work done as needed, sign repair as needed.
• Building maintenance—patch and paint work done weekly.
• Environmental Services—small plumbing repairs as needed.
• Oversight of storage areas of the practice. Moving of optical equipment and furniture on a frequent basis.
