Position Overview
The Senior Operations Supervisor is the store’s strategic owner of freight receiving, processing, replenishment, and back‑of‑house (BOH) workforce planning. The role is accountable for key performance indicators such as cartons‑per‑hour, backlog, flow‑to‑floor cycle time, and merchandise protection accuracy. The supervisor leads a BOH team of 20–40 associates, partners cross‑functionally with ASM Ops/Service and other store leaders, and periodically serves as Manager‑on‑Duty.
CoreResponsibilities
- Lead, train, coach, develop, and communicate with BOH teams, setting clear standards and goals.
- Onboard new hires and cross‑train associates across receiving, processing, staging, and replenishment workstations.
- Provide on‑the‑spot coaching and structured feedback, recognizing performance and applying corrective actions with store manager oversight.
- Develop talent pipeline through stretch assignments and succession planning aligned to BOH needs.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability; model company core values.
- Manage daily freight planning, right‑size staffing and equipment for anticipated volume and mix.
- Lead weekly workload planning, translate plans into shift schedules, workstation assignments, and throughput targets.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized BOH to enable efficient flow and ensure equipment setup aligns to SOP.
- Make real‑time decisions during processing to rebalance labor across workstations based on freight mix.
- Audit and improve execution: asset protection procedures, sizing accuracy, and end‑to‑end flow compliance.
- Partner with ASM Ops/Service and sales floor leaders to align replenishment cadence, prioritize high‑impact categories, and remove bottlenecks.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis on productivity opportunities and create targeted improvement plans.
- Serve as Manager‑on‑Duty in rotation, providing direction and support to all store areas while maintaining BOH throughput targets.
- Prepare and present concise performance updates to store and district leadership, ensuring follow‑ups to close gaps.
- Ensure adherence to safety and asset protection policies and documentation compliance within BOH processes.
- Processing Productivity – measured through completed cartons per hour (CPH) and associate payroll budgets.
- Task Completion – measured through unprocessed backlog volume.
- Execution Detail – measured through merchandise protection and sales floor sizing audits.
- Customer Experience – reflected in overall satisfaction and ease of shopping survey scores.
- Team Engagement – measured through associate turnover and training completion.
- At least two years of supervisory experience within an off‑price, big box, or specialty environment.
- Strong interpersonal and vocal leadership skills.
- Ability to multitask, provide direction in a fluid environment, and troubleshoot processes.
- Capacity to understand and analyze mathematical problems and KPIs.
- Motivation to seek self‑development opportunities beyond core responsibilities.
- Ability to move, handle, or lift merchandise and equipment weighing 40lbs or more.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work a full‑time schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
This position is open for full‑time employees. The company offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and a 401(k) plan. A competitive wage range is $17.00 – $21.25 per hour.
