Stormwater Operator - Rights of Way

PAY RATE: $20.00/HR.

Performs semi-skilled and limited-skilled work in the maintenance of streets, stormwater, and rights-of-way maintenance. Employees may be assigned to one or several functions within the classification depending upon the needs of the department. Under general supervision, incumbent must exercise reasonable initiates and independent judgement in ensuring that timely, efficient, and effective services are provided to departments, selecting work methods, and performing assigned tasks.

Work is reviewed through oral and written reports, discussion, and results obtained.

• Performs semi-skilled work for jobs related to maintenance and repair of stormwater, streets, and rights-of-way.
• Performs limited skilled work in canals, streets, ditches, and ponds using first-level maintenance equipment.
• Washes, cleans, and gives routine first-level maintenance to equipment.
• Operates pressure cleaning equipment, tractors, chain saws, trimmers, small trucks, and automotive equipment.
• Assists team in construction and maintenance activities including, but not limited to road patching, ditch maintenance, stormwater system maintenance, and rights-of-way repair.
• Assists with obtaining tools and materials needed for work. Assists in setting up barricades and other warning devices to channel traffic around construction areas or other hazards.
• May be required for stand‑by and/or after‑hour duties.
• Prepares daily activity sheets and other documentation as required.
• All employees will be required to work parades and special events such as Christmas parade, Martin Luther King parade, Strawberry Festival parade, and other events as required by the Department Director.

• High school graduation or possession of an equivalent diploma.
• Minimum 1 year experience in related work.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and must be insurable by the City’s current insurance provider.
• National Incident Management System (NIMS) training will be required according to the job duties and responsibilities within one (1) year of employment.
