The Production Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing high-speed production, mail inserting, and finishing equipment, including Blue Crest Rival and Epic insertion systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient daily operations.

This is a non-exempt position. Employees will be compensated for all hours worked, including overtime, in accordance with applicable laws.

Work schedules may vary based on production demands and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on-call support. Any such work will be scheduled and compensated in compliance with applicable wage and hour regulations.

Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mail inserting and finishing equipment to ensure optimal performance

Perform preventive maintenance, including inspections, lubrication, alignment, calibration, and part replacement to maximize uptime and reliability

Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-related issues in a timely manner to minimize production disruption

Support machine setups, adjustments, and changeovers to ensure smooth production runs and quality output

Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability

Document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and recurring issues accurately in maintenance logs or tracking systems

Coordinate with production leadership and equipment operators to prioritize repairs and communicate equipment status

Assist with installation, testing, startup, and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment

Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations, including lockout/tagout requirements; report unsafe conditions immediately

Demonstrate flexibility to support production needs, including scheduled or unscheduled overtime, weekends, or on-call responsibilities, as required by business needs and in compliance with applicable wage and hour laws Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the position

Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum of 3 years of experience maintaining or repairing high-speed production, print, mail inserting, finishing, or other automated equipment

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot electromechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems

Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and mechanical drawings

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

Experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment adjustments to support uptime, quality, and safe operation

Working knowledge of industrial safety practices, including lockout/tagout and machine guarding

Basic computer skills for entering maintenance logs, work orders, and parts tracking information

Ability to clearly communicate equipment status, repair needs, and safety concerns to production and maintenance teams

Ability to work a schedule that may include overtime, weekends, or on-call support based on business needs

Preferred Qualifications Technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience

Experience with high-speed mail inserting platforms such as Blue Crest Rival, Epic insertion equipment, and similar systems

Experience with related production equipment such as inkjet systems, cutters, folders, feeders, tabbers, strappers, conveyors, and motors
