PAY RATE: $26.81 / HR.
Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Mechanical Electrical Foreman III and the System Program Integrator, the System Program Integrator Assistant is responsible for assisting the System Program Integrator in the maintenance and troubleshooting of control valves, flow, pressure, level transmitters and other instruments, within the water/wastewater collection and distribution system.
This position requires basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers, SCADA, networking, radio communication (telemetry), computer‑controlled analog and digital I/O, ladder logic, and HMI graphics. It also requires familiarity with motors, starters, VFDs, safety around low and high voltage up to 480 V, and the ability to read electrical diagrams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Basic/intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel).
- Basic/intermediate knowledge of electrical safe work practices.
- Basic/intermediate knowledge of industrial automation, control panels, PLCs and instruments.
- Basic/intermediate knowledge of proper applications of instruments that control a process function.
- Basic/intermediate knowledge of radio communications (telemetry) associated software & hardware.
- Basic/intermediate ability to troubleshoot and program with related software.
- Basic/intermediate ability to work with scientific and analytic computer software, calculators, voltage and current meters, electronic probes, process multimeters and specialized calibration equipment.
- Basic/intermediate ability to work a variety of work schedules including emergency and/or disaster situations.
- Basic/intermediate ability to troubleshoot, edit, configure, and program controls systems such as PLCs, HMI, drives, SCADA with minimal supervision.
- Basic ability to interpret engineering plans, diagrams, schematic, PLC ladder logic, and blueprints.
- Troubleshoot, install, maintain, modify, calibrate, inspect, and repair instrumentation process control systems, motor starters, controls & VFDs.
- Design, construct, assemble, and rearrange circuits and other modifications to operation and test equipment.
- Operate electronic controlling, measuring, recording, testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Perform basic/intermediate installation, modification, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of electronic and electrical equipment in water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, lift station operations.
- Perform basic/intermediate analysis and interpretation of test data and edit PLC programs using specified software.
- Design, develop, program, install, modify, test the installation of electrical process control equipment, components & systems; preferred Trihedral VTS.
- Provide field service support (instrumentation and controls).
- Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to ensure correct results.
- Calculate data necessary for wiring systems, requisition supplies and materials.
- May direct and/or oversee the work of lower level technicians.
- May serve as the lead employee on project teams.
- Recommend electronic requirements in support of facilities and/or systems.
- Prepare work schedules, coordinate maintenance with operations, produce technical reports of electronic operational issues.
- Provide written documentation and reports for compliance inspections.
- Perform other duties as designated.
- Supervise and/or participate in installation, alteration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of control and electrical systems, motors, and other mechanical equipment.
- Schedule assignments, supervise, train, and provide technical guidance to subordinate technicians.
- Coordinate work with consultants and contractors when jobs exceed in‑house abilities.
- Review new construction to ensure City standards met and equipment performs as designed including backup power test.
- Program MDS radios and troubleshoot Data Flow Systems radios.
- Order parts, services, maintain inventory of electrical components.
- May be required to work within all areas of the department and/or the City as the need arises.
