Education and Experience
- High school diploma/GED.
- Six (6) months of experience in the maintenance and repair of utilities, stormwater or transportation infrastructure.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida CDL B driver's license within ninety (90) days of hire or promotion.
- Must obtain and maintain Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic/Temporary Traffic Control certification from an approved trainer within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
- Inventories daily equipment and materials, and stocks appropriate supplies as per work orders, i.e., plumbing supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Ensures the safe and effective operating condition of equipment through inspection of work order materials for defects, malfunctioning or otherwise substandard conditions. Notifies supervisor of concerns.
- Assists in preparing work sites by establishing traffic control devices such as signs, barricades and cones per FDOT MOT specifications.
- Utilizes various manual, gas and hand-held electrical tools and equipment in the performance of assigned tasks.
- Performs maintenance and repair on municipal property, i.e., stormwater infrastructure including catch basins, swales, pipes, outfalls, weirs, and canals.
