Newscast Producer - Kfvs

Job Summary

KFVS/WSIL is seeking an energetic, creative, and motivated Producer to join our newsroom. The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, thrives under deadline pressure, and has a strong grasp of local and national news. This producer will craft compelling, visually engaging newscasts that inform and connect with our audience on all platforms.

• Produce engaging, fast‑paced newscasts
• Write, edit, and organize scripts with accuracy and creativity
• Coordinate with anchors, reporters, photographers, directors, and the digital team to ensure seamless and polished shows
• Incorporate breaking news, live shots, and developing stories effectively into newscasts
• Monitor wires, social media, scanner traffic, and other sources for story ideas and updates
• Collaborate with Newsroom leadership on story selection, rundowns, and coverage priorities – ensuring strategic goals are being met
• Ensure broadcasts meet editorial and legal standards
• Contribute to digital platforms

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred
• Previous newscast producing experience preferred, but not required
• Strong writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment skills
• Familiarity with ENPS or similar newsroom systems a plus
• Ability to multitask and make decisions quickly in a fast‑paced environment
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
