Exercise Technician

Overview

Find your calling at Mercy! The exercise technician is responsible for assisting members and guests in meeting physical capacity goals. The person in this position needs to be comfortable with effective positive communication with a varied population. Basic equipment maintenance and daily cleaning of facility equipment is required. Assisting with hospital and community health fairs, walks, and other projects. This position requires adherence to a flexible work schedule based on facility usage.

Part-Time (20-hrs per week)

• Assist members and guests in meeting physical capacity goals.
• Provide effective positive communication with a varied population.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance and daily cleaning of all facility equipment.
• Assist with hospital and community health fairs, walks, and other projects.
• Adhere to a flexible work schedule based on facility usage.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma required.
• Experience:
  
  (Preferred) 6 months minimum in some type of customer service industry.
• Certifications (Preferred): CPR-AED Adult/Child or higher.
• Skills:
  
  Ability to effectively communicate with individuals or groups; basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; general knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to exercise.

• Education (Preferred):
  Associate degree or Bachelor’s in health field.
• Licensure (Preferred):
  Certified personal trainer.
• Experience (Preferred): 1-3 years in group exercise or personal training.
• Certifications (Not Required but Preferred):
  Nationally accredited certifications (ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, AFAA, etc.).
• Other:
  Ability to lead group classes and develop weight loss/weight management programs for a wide demographic.
