Summary/Objective

This position is 40 hours per week with no benefits available.

Maintain the grounds, facilities and infrastructure.

Essential

Job Duties
  • Maintain grounds through mowing, leaf removal, snow removal, concrete placement, planting trees, shrubs and mulching, etc.
  • Daily building janitorial duties to include trash removal, cleaning exhibits, cleaning restrooms, windows and vacuuming.
  • Operate, maintain and repair equipment for landscaping, plumbing, minor electrical repair, etc. Necessary experienced code trimmed. The rest:
    Control nuisance animals and participate in prescribed burns.
  • Establish food plots, prairie, savannah, glades, forest areas, grasses,근 forbs, and tree seedlings.
  • Construct and maintain water features, exhibits, retaining walls, walkways, planting beds, native plant gardens and fences.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers and stakeholders regarding facilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • At least one (1) year of related experience, including carpentry and HVAC maintenance experience.
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment for land management.
  • Knowledge of basic wiring, plumbing, carpentry, and landscape maintenance and repairs.
  • Working knowledge of facility maintenance equipment and the use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop solutions and plans to solve the problem.
  • Ability to interact with the general public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to develop cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work varying shifts and hours, as needed.
Work Environment
  • Frequently work in outdoor weather which may be hot, cold, wet or humid.
  • Occasionally exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.
  • May be subject to exposure to mechanical oils, fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts.
Physical Abilities
  • Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Frequently operate tools and heavy equipment safely.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, and three-dimensional vision
  • Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Concentrated attention is required at all times.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

Status/Special Notes

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy.

Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
