Job SummaryProvides advanced, comprehensive patient care across multiple Medical–Surgical inpatient units by applying evidence-based nursing practice, rapid clinical assessment skills, and independent decision making. The Float Pool RN functions as a highly skilled generalist who adapts to varying patient populations, acuity levels, workflows, and unit specific protocols while ensuring continuity of safe, compliant, and high-quality care.
Core Responsibilities- Deliver comprehensive, evidence based nursing care across multiple Med/Surg units, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for diverse diagnoses, acuity levels, and age groups. Requires rapid synthesis of clinical data to initiate appropriate interventions without unit specific orientation support.
- Perform advanced clinical assessments and independent clinical judgment to identify changes in patient condition, prioritize care needs, and elevate concerns appropriately in unfamiliar unit environments.
- Adapt practice to unit specific workflows, technologies, and protocols (e.g., specialty equipment, documentation standards, order sets), often with limited preparation time, while maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care and patient throughput by collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, case management, pharmacy, and ancillary services across multiple units to support timely admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Administer complex medication regimens and treatments using clinical decision making skills to ensure safety across varying formularies, equipment, and patient populations encountered during float assignments.
- Provide patient and family education tailored to diverse diagnoses, literacy levels, and discharge plans while conserving continuity of education across units.
- Advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Strong adaptability and ability to function independently in varied care settings
- Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems
- Knowledge of evidence based Med/Surg nursing standards and regulatory requirements
- Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Ability to prioritize care in high acuity and high volume environments

Hours:
Day Shift, 7am to 7pm, every other weekend and holiday rotation.
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing - required
- Active nursing license in the state of Missouri - required
- BLS - required
- ACLS - preferred
- Three (3) years Acute Care Medical Surgical Nursing (RN) Experience - required
