We provide design and engineering services, aerial and underground construction, in‑home fulfillment installations and 24/7 service and maintenance. Our client coverage area is nationwide, and we partner with municipalities, cooperatives, cities, and private ISPs. We emphasize quality, urgency, image, customer experience, and safety through local community partnerships.

Position Overview

The Broadband Installation Technician connects telecommunication services in customers’ homes and offices. The role tests and troubleshoots equipment to ensure televisions, computers, and wireless devices are connected, while maintaining organized cables and cords. The technician is on time, communicates proactively, is prepared for the task at hand, and provides respectful, patient explanations of the services installed to ensure a best‑in‑class customer experience.

The position reports to the Project Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Install telecommunication services in customers’ homes and offices; test and troubleshoot equipment and connections to ensure proper functioning.
  • Thoroughly and patiently provide education to customers on the services installed and answer all customer questions before leaving the premises.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled appointments, and proactively communicate with customers to advise when you will arrive and confirm their presence.
  • Utilize test equipment to ensure signal strength and connection quality.
  • Process work orders before heading out, ensuring all necessary equipment and tools are available.
  • Review work orders and performed work prior to leaving the premises to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of company vehicles; report any performance or maintenance issues to the Manager and Fleet Director.
  • Adhere to driving and safety laws and company policies at all times.
  • Perform other projects or duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of previous broadband installation experience preferred.
  • Strong computer, network, and electronics skills; ability to use tablet applications.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to convey technical information clearly and professionally to a diverse audience.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Positive, solutions‑oriented attitude with strong analytical, problem‑solving skills; ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Current valid driver’s license; ability to remain insurable under the vehicle liability policy.
  • Background investigation and Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and alcohol testing required.
  • Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, operating, and working with technical equipment and tools.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in non‑climate‑controlled environments and inclement weather.
  • Ability to use hand tools, identify wire size/color, and accurately use measuring devices.
  • Ability to complete tasks requiring fine manipulation with small components and wires.
  • Ability to provide oral information and detailed instructions to clients and team members accurately.
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
