Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
The Lutheran Home is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our healthcare community. This position plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience performing general building maintenance, repairs, and groundskeeping while demonstrating our core values of service, excellence, dignity, fulfillment, grace, and stewardship. Responsibilities- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural issues
- Complete work orders and inspect areas for needed repairs
- Maintain resident rooms, common areas, and facility equipment in proper working order
- Assist with painting, carpentry, drywall, and general building repairs
- Maintain and repair equipment used throughout the facility, including kitchen and laundry equipment
- Assist with resident room moves and facility event set-up
- Perform groundskeeping duties, including snow removal and exterior maintenance
- Operate maintenance equipment and tools safely and effectively
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting supplies as needed
- Collaborate with team members to promote a safe, positive, and resident-centered environment
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and service-oriented attitude with residents, families, and staff
- Full-time position. Typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Work every 6th weekend and one holiday per year.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous maintenance experience preferred
- Knowledge of general building maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair techniques
- Basic skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs
- Rough and finish carpentry skills preferred, including framing, drywall, trim, baseboards, doors, and window installation
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, walk extended distances, and perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, kneeling, and squatting
- Valid driver license
