Job Purpose
To provide comprehensive international student support for full degree-seeking students as well as short-stay study abroad and exchange students, and, together with the Manager:
International Relations, to manage all inbound and outbound student and staff exchanges. The incumbent serves as the CPUT Erasmus+ Coordinator and coordinator for other international mobility networks in which CPUT participates, and coordinates all Internationalisation at Home activities, while providing full support to the Directorate through the Manager:
International Relations for comprehensive international student activities and initiatives.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A relevant National Diploma or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- At least three (3) years' experience in an international higher education environment dealing with student exchange and study abroad.
- Demonstrable knowledge of and experience in the coordination and support of international capacity programmes.
- Understanding of international projects and funding applications.
- Working knowledge of Erasmus+, SASUF, SANORD, IEASA and other relevant funded international academic networks.
- International student support. Provide comprehensive support to full degree-seeking international students as well as short-stay study abroad and exchange students, from application through to graduation or completion.
- Student and staff exchange management. Together with the Manager:
International Relations, manage all inbound and outbound student and staff exchanges. - Erasmus+ and mobility network coordination. Serve as the CPUT Erasmus+ Coordinator and coordinator for other international mobility networks that CPUT participates in.
- Internationalisation rdinate all Internationalisation at Home activities, including events and professional development activities.
- External/internal liaison. Work with the Manager:
International Relations to develop a comprehensive portfolio of international capacity development programmes and work packages in line with CPUT's strategic direction and needs. - Client service. Liaison of the partnerships across networks.
- Directorate support. Support the Directorate, through the Manager:
International Relations, in taking responsibility for the coordination of international projects and student/staff exchange administration. - Administrative duties. Arrange activities in support of the programme objectives; ensure that financial obligations are adhered to for project and exchange coordination.
- Report generation. Collate information and provide feedback to the Manager:
International Relations and partners as required. - Ability to work independently and to use own initiative to resolve problems and be pro‑active to get things done; passionate about international education.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a team and work under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and deadlines.
- Understanding of protocols when dealing with high‑level international guests.
- Flexibility to work across borders and cultures, with strong intercultural competencies.
- Willingness to work across time zones to accommodate international partners and networks.
- Financial coordination and project management skills.
- Ability to deal with conflict.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams).
